How To Tell When Someone Doesn’t Like You

Monday, 23 October 2006 at 5:00 am Pacific USA Time.

There is someone I’ve seen a bunch of lately for reasons I won’t mention so
that nobody figures out who I mean. :) I think this person doesn’t like me.
She’s never been hostile to me, but it’s just my guess that she doesn’t like
me.

Last week, we were the only two people in a hallway. We were walking towards
each other. I said, "Good morning!" in a friendly way. She made no eye contact,
said, "Good morning," back, and then closed her eyes as she walked by me.

Closed her eyes.

Couldn’t look elsewhere. Couldn’t look at me evidently, and I was looking
pretty good that day! Would rather walk down a hallway in closed-eyed
darkness for many seconds than possibly look at me. I wish people could see
their own body language.

It can be hard to tell what someone is really thinking. Even when you think you know it’s not always obvious. You perhaps already had a biased belief about her feelings toward you before the incident and when the incident occurred your bias made it easy for you to interpret that she thought negatively of you. But…. it may be that something happened to her between the time you saw her and earlier in the day that put her in a bad or upset mood. The fact that you already thought she doesn’t like you, makes it easy to misattribute what she was really thinking. Ultimately, it is not important if she does or does not like you, especially if she has no reason not to like you. What matters is that you don’t let it bother you. Remember, you cannot control how others feel and think only how you think and react. Therefore, it is pointless worrying about it. There are so many people on this planet, not everyone will like me or you, but that is okay. Personalities and temperaments are quite diverse despite what astrology would have you believe…lol

It doesn’t bother me. I thought her body language was funny, though I don’t think she meant it to be funny.
