Is That Charity A Joke?

Thursday, 29 May 2008 at 5:00 am Pacific USA Time.

I just heard about Music Rising. It is described as:

Musical instrument replacement fund developed by U2’s The Edge
to benefit musicians of the Gulf Coast who lost their instruments and
equipment in the 2005 hurricanes.

So let me get this right. Most of an entire town is homeless. The land their owned is worth nothing. They had to leave their homes and for some, their city. Tornados are killing people all over our country. People are hungry. Other countries right now are dealing with earthquakes and other natural disasters killing tens of thousands.

And out of all of the pain in the world right now, The Edge from U2 puts together a charity to help musicians get replacement equipment?

I’m sorry, but I can’t believe it. I’m a musician. I want musicians to have instruments and equipment. But if I have to pick feeding hungry people, educating people, or helping people in natural disasters, I’m going to make somebody wait for that Marshall stack.
