Making Criminals Smarter

Friday, 18 August 2006 at 5:00 am Pacific USA Time.

Some people have complained about crime dramas making criminals smarter by showing processes detectives go through and what seems to make crimes harder to solve. Today, I want to say that the amount of information we give on the news has the same effect.

Take the whole airline terror thing that’s recently going on. I think that when they come on to say what they WILL allow on board, anybody who’s a terrorist is going to start taking notes. Hey, I can take baby formula.

I think that the only thing that really foils plots would be intelligence, informants, and spies. How often does the TSA keep a dangerous person from bringing something dangerous on board? Sure, they’ve made lots of people ditch tweezers and lighters, but how many plots did those foil?
