Your Face To The World

Wednesday, 30 August 2006 at 5:00 am Pacific USA Time.

One of my clients emailed me last week telling me that they were going to get
new photos of themselves taken for their webpage that details the company
partners. He wanted to know if I could please take down their photos and replace
it with "under construction."

That didn’t make sense. I wrote back asking if I could just leave the photos
until they have the new ones, or if the photos have to come down right now
because they’re hurting their business.

The reply was that they actually had proof that their photos were hurting
their business, and they needed them to come down immediately. So I took them
down.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard that before in 11 years of building websites
for people. I don’t think anybody who has had me put up a photo of himself or
herself has ever written to tell me that said photo was detrimental to
business.

Ouch.
